The Fabric of civilization is such a great book! Highly recommend as well ❤️ I have yet to make a button up shirt with a proper collar stand and plackets, if you have any recs for a pattern with great instructions. I’ve made jeans and coats so I’m not sure why I’m so afraid of button ups!
Since you have made jeans and coats, you can totally make a button up shirt!
When I started, I used the book "Shirtmaking" by David Coffin and then refined my techniques from there. The instructions in that book are very good and well illustrated, and you can apply them to any shirt pattern.
The two patterns I have used the most are the Grainline Archer and the Closet Core Jenna. I found that the Jenna was the easier of the two to fit, but it is also more oversized.
