Project Intensity
What a month of muslins taught me about managing my sewing queue
After spending the entire month of May (and early June) making nothing but muslins, I found myself revisiting the question I raised in my last post: how had I reached a point where no actual clothes were being made?
At first, I assumed the problem was that I had chosen too many projects that required fitting. So I started looking through my sewing queue, trying to identify garments that would be relatively straightforward to make.
I found myself eagerly looking forward to making a plain silk crepe camisole. If I could just get to that project and the other more familiar projects on my list, I could start advancing through my accumulating sewing queue.
Then it finally clicked. The problem wasn’t that I had several fitting projects in my queue. I actually enjoy solving a good fitting puzzle. The problem was that I had stacked several high-intensity projects together.
